Senior Public Health and Tropical Medicine Fellowships for Doctoral and Post-doctoral Academics

The Welcome Trust Grant has opened the Senior Public Health and Tropical Medicine Fellowships. The fellowship supports outstanding researchers from low- and middle-income countries to establish themselves as leading investigators at academic institutions in low- and middle-income countries.

This fellowship is the most senior of a series of career awards aimed at building sustainable capacity in areas of research that have the potential for increasing health benefits for people and their livestock in low- and middle-income countries.



Applicants can qualify for the Senior Research Fellowship in Public Health and Tropical Medicine if they are a national of a low- or middle-income country, have a PhD or a degree in medicine and are qualified to enter higher specialist clinical training and have five to twelve years of postdoctoral research experience.

Wellcome particularly encourages applications from researchers from low- and middle-income countries who want to return to their home countries. The selection criteria is assessed based on the applicant’s track record, the quality and importance of the research question(s) presented, approach to solving these questions and the suitability of your research to the present environment.
